Al was recently appointed the CIO for Gohow (previously MyRealDNA) the leader in Internet based Career Planning services. Al is also an Executive Consultant and sole owner of The Canea Group. Al was previously a Partner of the StrataFusion Group, Inc. and is a well-known technology veteran with over 40 years experience in the fields of information technology (IT), development engineering, marketing and business management. Al’s expertise spans virtualization practices, internet technology , enterprise applications, CRM applications, PostScript development, communications systems, global manufacturing, professional services and automated test systems.
Most recently as the CIO for VMware, Al led the IT organization during the period of hyper-growth. Al was also the CIO for Hotwire responsible for all development and informationtechnology operations of this internet based travel provider. Prior to Hotwire, Al was the CIO for Portal Software, VeriFone/HP and Adobe Systems were he was responsible for leading all IT activities.
Prior to his CIO positions, Al was a VP of Engineering atAdobe Systems , a Test Engineering manager at Apple Computer, a Business Unit Director & VP of Engineering (VPE) for Schlumberger Technologies, a Director of Software at MSI Data and held various technology and marketing positions with the Xerox Corporation. Al is an active member of several CIO & VPE communities of practice and serves on many advisory boards.
Al was a contributing author of the popular CIO Wisdom book that represents the best practices of leading CIO’s from the Silicon Valley. He recently contributed to the latest book titled CIO Perspectives which addressed recent IT challenges and associated strategies.
Al holds a Certificate of Technical Business Management from UCLA and BA in Mathematics from Brooklyn College of the University of the City of New York.
