TechLife Update - 9.1.09

Good morning all,

The weather is crisp, kids are back in school, and the Buckeyes are playing Navy this weekend. I don't know about you but it took me about 2 hours last Saturday to get the kids school, soccer, and extracurriculars activities on my calendar. Why do I bring that up? It's because if you want to "create the world you want to live in" it's important to plan out your activities (which includes loooking on the meetup calendar) in advance.

Got some great news last week when the panelists for a CIOhio Agile Development panel discussion I'm facilitating got confirmed. Kroger, Nationwide, and The Gap will be represented on Nov 6. For you senior IT leaders out there CIOhio is a not to be missed event. Check it out here.

The Digital City project is a multi-angled approach to innovating workforce development. We're going to create a sustainable business model by producing on-line interactive multimedia for foundations and brands that will also enable us to build out an open "innovation platform" with shared servers, live video help and free dashboard software. the effort is a multi-city alliance and I want to make sure that Columbus is part of that alliance!

Toobla - People are overwhelmed with the amount of data they are consuming and sharing on the web. As you find and share more and more things online, it's hard to keep track of it all. Toobla provides a visual bookmarking solution to help you collect, enjoy and share the best of the web. Toobla lets you create visual bookmarks in virtual folders - put anything you find on the web (sites, videos, images, documents, games, widgets, etc.) in your Toobla folders and share them with one simple URL through email, Twitter, Facebook or anywhere on the social web. Your folders are portable as well as sharable - and you can embed your collections as a widget on your blog or on a social networking site.
