Hahn Loeser Attorney Douglas S. Morgan Receives Columbus Bar Association’s Community Service Award

June 25, 2010 – Columbus, OH – Douglas S. Morgan, a partner with Hahn Loeser & Parks LLP, recently received the Columbus Bar Association’s Community Service Award, it was announced by Stephen E. Chappelear, partner-in-charge of the firm’s Columbus office.

Mr. Morgan was given the Community Service Award in recognition of his contribution of time and effort in service to the Central Ohio community and to the legal profession. The Columbus Bar Association granted awards to a total of seven area leaders this year, including Mr. Morgan, at its annual Awards of Excellence Luncheon held at the Hyatt on Capitol Square.

Mr. Morgan is well known as a leader of the "pedaling revolution" in Central Ohio. He bicycles to work every day and in addition to his work on the board of Consider Biking, Central Ohio's bicycle advocacy group, Mr. Morgan is frequently invited to speak on how active transportation can transform communities and improve personal, environmental and community health. Last month, he organized a 2.5-mile bicycle commute involving Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman and 70 central Ohio CEOs in a bike ride to kick off “Bike to Work Week” in support of “2 By 2010,” Consider Biking’s new active transportation initiative developed to increase and incentivize the use of active bicycle transportation by Central Ohio commuters.

Mr. Morgan's involvement in the community also includes his board memberships with the Columbus Chamber of Commerce (where he chairs the Green Council) and Nationwide Children's Hospital Foundation. Mr. Morgan is the former chairman of the board of trustees for the Franklin Park Conservatory, a founding member of TechColumbus, and a former member of the City of Columbus Civil Service Commission.

Mr. Morgan is a partner in Hahn Loeser’s Columbus office. He has more than 20 years of experience in general corporate law, corporate finance, securities, and mergers and acquisitions, in addition to his experience in the areas of banking, real estate and venture capital. Mr. Morgan counsels public and private companies on a wide variety of matters, including reorganizations, entity structuring and corporate governance. He has successfully managed transactions involving commercial finance, venture capital and mezzanine funds, as well as complex real estate and development projects, and has worked with several successful start-up companies, including those in the technology and banking areas.

Mr. Morgan is listed in the most recent editions of The Best Lawyers in America, Ohio Super Lawyers, and Columbus C.E.O. magazine and Business First’s listings of “The Best Lawyers in Columbus.” He is also AV^® rated by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest available rating for legal ability and professional ethics. Mr. Morgan earned his J.D., with honors, from The Ohio State University in 1982, and a B.A., cum laude, from Harvard University in 1978.
