Well that's nice. But it is an ad placed by the state of Ohio. It's not like WSJ saw a great story and ran with it. What we really need is for real media coverage of what we're doing here and that means that we're going to need to do things worth writing and reading about. Then we're going to have to work the media relations to get reporters on the story.

Matt couldn't be more right. It's national/global press coverage that really matters. The Forbes.com listing of Columbus as the #1 "up-and-coming" tech city is a good step.

Even here in the region, many people don't know the stories/successes. So that's needed as well.

By the way, the Forbes.com listing was in the feature section of the front page of Yahoo for 1 day when the story first broke. You had to click through to see Columbus' #1 ranking. But still, that's great press.

Also, the Forbes.com listing was written up with a lot of mention about Battelle's growth and intellectual property. No doubt, Battelle is a powerhouse and a great asset for this region, but if you read the analysis that was done (http://www.techcolumbus.org/attachments/articles/895/ForbesMarch2008.pdf), it's clear that many other factors (regional tech infrastructure, social communities) played into the listing.

Good things are happening. Much more opportunity exists.
