EWI Announces New Grant Program to Support Tech-Based Products and Processes Across Ohio | TechColumbus

EWI has opened the RFP process for a new grants program the organization is managing on behalf of the Ohio Department of Development. The Edison Technology Assistance Grants (E-TAG) program is a strategic technology acceleration program through which Ohio companies, working in collaboration with one or more Edison center or incubator, can receive small and targeted grants to help them overcome some hurdle that stands between them and commercial success of a technology-based product or production process.

The goal of the program is to stimulate economic growth in Ohio within targeted key industries including: advanced energy and environmental technologies; aerospace and aviation; agriculture and food processing; biomedical; instruments controls and electronics; motor vehicle and parts manufacturing; and advanced materials.

Grants will be awarded in the amounts of $25-$50k to be used to meet an immediate need and accelerate the continued development of the tech-based product or process. EWI expects to award between 10-20 grants from now through January 2011.

Applicants must work in conjunction with an established Edison center or incubator to prepare and submit their application. TechColumbus is an Edison incubator and as such is prepared to help companies respond to this RFP.

Any Central Ohio companies who would like more information on the project or would like to explore responding to the RFP should contact Rick Focht(rfocht@techcolumbus.org)director of commercialization services for TechColumbus, at 614-675-3693
