Description
Provides direct technical support to Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) storage environment; assumes responsibility for storage support of all systems in computer center; provides system administration support for all High Performance Computing (HPC) system; supports with minimal supervision high performance computing storage environment located at OSC; schedules installations of hardware and software; interfaces with vendor service support; performs maintenance and troubleshoots problems; assumes responsibility for system OS LINUX/UNIX upgrades, Storage Area Network configurations, patch management, file system support, and software installations and support; assists with short and long-range plans for storage environments at OSC.


Skills
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineer related field or a combination of education and experience; Masters or PhD in computer science or engineering field desired; experience with Unix/Linux; ability to work independently and in a team environment desired; experience and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment desired; experience with High Performance Computing storage environment; evidence of establishment and completion of independent projects desired; knowledge of programming languages and libraries; technical writing and communication skills; understanding of file system concepts practices, implementations and API’s; knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise; ability to implement and troubleshoot programming changes and modifications; knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques; knowledge of data integrity methods and techniques; ability to perform acceptance testing on computer systems, applications, and hardware; ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise.
