Third Frontier Announces $38 Million in Research Commercialization Funding
Central Ohio Innovators Receive Nearly $15M for Biomedical and Engineering-Physical Sciences Projects
Ohio’s Third Frontier program has announced the awarding of more than $38 million to eight companies through the Ohio Research and Commercialization Program (RCP). Researchers and companies in Central Ohio were awarded $14.8 million. Those Central Ohio innovators receiving awards included
- Arteriocyte, Inc., a collaboration between OSU, University of Toledo and the Cleveland Clinic which was recommended for a biomedical award in the amount of $4.9 million to further develop stem cell-based therapeutics for use in treating cardiovascular disease and other conditions.
- Zyvex Performance Materials, Inc. along with a number of industry and university collaborators, which were recommended for an engineering and physical sciences RCP award in the amount of $4.9 million to further develop and produce carbon nanotubes to be used in the development of advanced composites for application in the marine, sporting goods, aerospace and high-end automotive industries.
- Hyper Tech Research Inc., in collaboration with OSU, the Wright Center of Innovation in Biomedical imaging, RevWires and Siemens Magnet Technology, Ltd, recommended for $5 million to expand the use of Hyper Tech’s platform technology of high-field and high-temperature superconductor wire technology.
